New litters! :)

Well...I haven't posted in a while because I have been "winterizing" my barn making sure that the shutters have no cracks, and stuffing them with old T-shirts & sweaters from a local auction. Since my last post, I have had a little success with the breeding.  I've had two litters born;  the first one was a litter of 7 and the second was a litter of 9. I have five more does due around the first of the new year.
We have finally  finished the barn with shutters on all four sides, so hopefully that will help in the summer :) I'll try to post pics of the barn later.

Here are a few pictures of the new babies....

Bunny Breeding and New Rabbits

Sorry for the late post:) I've been busy breeding does, palpating, getting nest boxes clean and so on. I bred Brindy again and also her daughter Krissa & they are due June 19th . A couple of weeks ago I bred Coda and Sangria so they are due on June 5th (so I have to make some more nest boxes). Bacon is due on the 27th of this month so she already has a nest box in. Also yesterday I bought 3 junior does from a breeder who has really good stock of Production Whites, they are doing quite well.

Brindy's new litter

The 19th of April was Brindys due date, but we wen to a friends house to slaughter a pig. And we where there till about 6 o'clock. So we came home and I went in to the bunny barn and saw Brindy with a bunch of hay and hair in her mouth. :) Then I looked in her box and saw only three kits. And I assumed that she was done but NO, she had five more while I was standing there. :) All of the babies are very healthy and cute.

Finaly A "Real" Barn

Well, I haven't posted in a while because we have been building a wall on the front of my barn (before the Summer hits). We had some scrap wood and sheet metal, and a door from an auction. So we went to work, and got the door put on first. Then we built the frame for the sheet metal & shutters, and installed the metal. Next, we put the shutters on, and installed chicken wire to keep animals out. The last step was for me to waterproof the shutters:).

Here are pics of the finished barn

Have a good rest of your day;)

Warming Up (YAY)

Lately is been in the 50's out and the bunnies seem to like it:). So we cleaned out my whole barn, now I have a ton of cage space. I sold 7 rabbits, Sandy with all of her babies and two of Brindy's does. So now I have 4 open cages!. Ho and about a week ago I got 2 Production White does, so that makes 4 production whites.

Snow Snow Snow!

Well...It's been snowing for about 3 days off and on. The bunnies are holding up pretty well, just dealing with frozen water bottles:) We've got about 12'' on the ground and it's still snowing!

Goodbye Farmer

Two days ago Farmer somehow got out of his cage (and out of the barn). So the dogs got to him, (trying to "play" with him, I guess).  I gave him electrolytes, oats and a lot of hay. Yesterday I brought him in and fed him warm goat milk and about one hour later he stopped breathing:(. So we made the decision to not let him go to waste, and my sister and I processed him.
Farmer was my foundation buck and he'll be missed for sure.

A new breed ;) One of my friends gave me a production White:), They are like NZ's, but have been bred by Texas A&M to withstand heat & humidity, to be finer boned and to grow fast.
So here are some pictures of her....
